Sing a Song

Herman the Worm

I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring a tiny worm)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
“I ate 1 grape."
I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring a little bit bigger worm)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
“I ate 2 apples."
I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring a bigger worm)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
"I ate 3 grapefruits."
I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring a bigger worm)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
"I ate 4 cantaloupes."
I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring a really big worm)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
"I ate 5 watermelons."
I was sittin' on my fencepost, chewing my bubblegum
(chomp, chomp, chomp, chomp)
Playin' with my yo-yo, doo-wop! Doo-wop!
And along came Herman the worm (worm finger movements)
And he was this big (make a motion as if measuring for a tiny worm again)
And I said: "Herman? What happened?"
"I burped."

See how far you can jump with your little one.  Mark the starting line with tape and have them guess how far they can jump.  Mark their guess with a second line of tape.  Then test it out by jumping together!
