Three Little Nickels

Three little nickels in a pocketbook new. (hold up three fingers) 

One bought a peppermint, (bend down one finger) 

And then there were two. (hold up two fingers)

Two little nickels before the day was done.

One bought an ice cream cone, (bend down one finger)

And then there was one. (hold up one finger)

One little nickel I heard it plainly say,

"I'm going into the piggy bank for a rainy day!" (bend down finger and show "none")

Try This

Use pieces of dry cereal to form the shapes of letters and numbers.  Discuss the letters and numbers you’ve created with your child, as well as the sounds the letters make.  Then eat the letters and numbers together!
