Together, write a poem about your pet or what your favorite animal does all day. Maybe you can give your favorite animal a job to do! Write the poem down on paper as you create it together to help your child connect verbal and written language. Poetry builds early literacy skills. It helps children learn to recognize sound patterns, and learn and memorize new words.
